What an ATS resume checker actually tells you

An applicant tracking system reads your resume as a file to be parsed, not as a page to be admired. This checker shows you that parse — the text a system would pull out of your file, what got lost on the way, and a score out of 100 for how cleanly it survived. Every issue comes with the reason it matters and how to fix it, not a generic “add more keywords”.

Is the ATS checker free?

Yes. Paste your resume and you get your score out of 100, the text an ATS would actually pull out of your file, and how many issues it found — free, no signup. The full breakdown, with every issue and how to fix each one, comes by email along with a one-page red-flags checklist.

Does my resume get uploaded anywhere?

Not to produce your score. The free score runs entirely in your browser — your resume never leaves your device to be scored, and we never store it. If you opt into the strategic analysis after unlocking the report, the text is sent once to be analyzed and is not stored or shared.

Will an applicant tracking system reject my resume automatically?

That is the myth worth dropping. These systems are not sitting there auto-rejecting resumes. What they do is parse your file into fields — name, titles, dates, skills — and when the parse goes wrong your experience lands scrambled, in the wrong field, or nowhere at all. Then a recruiter searching for the role never surfaces you. The damage is quiet, not a rejection email.

What can I check — PDF, Word, or plain text?

.docx, .pdf and .txt, or just paste the text. When you have no idea what is on the other end, .docx is the safest bet, because parsers vary. If your PDF is a scan or a design export, there may be no real text in it at all — the checker tries to read it and tells you when there is nothing to read, which is exactly what an ATS would get.

What counts as a good score?

Under 50 needs work. 50 to 74 is getting there. 75 to 89 is solid. 90 and above is clean. The score is not a grade on your career — it measures how cleanly your resume survives being read by software before a person ever sees it.

Which ATS is it tested against?

It does not emulate one specific vendor. It checks the things most systems read badly: multi-column layouts, content trapped in tables, details stuck in a header or footer, non-standard section headings, inconsistent dates, contact info a parser cannot find in the body, and length. Those failure modes hold up across systems, which is why they are worth fixing.

Do I need to buy anything to use it?

No. The checker is free and stays free. The 72-Hour Callback Kit is the paid part — ATS-safe templates, layoff scripts, cover letters and tailoring prompts — and it exists to fix what the checker finds. Using the checker and never buying anything is a completely normal outcome.
